The Cea Pipe Band,
established by 30 young musicians, is a formation of
different concepts of folk groups focused on the modern
rather than traditional ideals use by some Galician Pipe
Bands. We use high tension ANDANTE percussion together
with Galician pipes. These characteristics help to
create a spectacular impact in concerts and parades.
INTERNATIONAL
Since 1988, when
the band was formed, their performances have seen them
travel to places such as SCOTLAND, where they took part
in many very famous Highland Games, such as Bridge of
Allan and Inverkeithing. Here they competed with very
positive results in the Pipe Band Championships.
They also
collaborated with a very professional and outstanding
piper, Patrick Mollard, in a concert performance at the
Reggio Theatre in Turin, ITALY. In Brussels and Hasselt
(Belgium Pipe Band Championships) in 1991 and Nantes,
Burdeos and also at Lorient (Festival Interceltique de
Lorient, FRANCE in 1994 and 1997.. There are many other
international venues where the Banda de Gaitas de Cea
band has played with distinction.
Not only in
Europe has the band participated, but an outstanding
performance when they played with distinction in Caracas
and Valencia (VENEZUELA). The highlight of their visit
was a concert at the Caracas Hilton Hotel in front of a
multitude of patrons and guests, enjoying each moment of
the concert.
In 2000, the
band toured the United Kingdon, where they performed at
the Edinburgh Millenium Piping Festival. They also took
part in the March of 10,000 Pipers through the streets
of Edinburgh. Here the Band performed and was
